The course on the Common, which is shared with London Scottish Golf Club, was first played on in 1865 and is the second oldest continuing golf course in England.

Wimbledon Common Golf Club itself was formed in 1908, and was originally called Wimbledon Town Golf Club. Dan Maskell, the men’s tennis champion and commentator, was a member and his red jacket is worn each year by the men’s Club Champion.
