The Richmond Golf Club was formed in 1891. For the first few years, the club leased a course in Old Deer Park until in 1895, when its own course was laid out by Tom Dunn in historic Sudbrook Park in Petersham.

The course has six challenging par 3s. The land was originally leased from the Crown Estate until the club purchased the freehold in 2016. The clubhouse is a magnificent Grade I listed mansion.
