The Prince’s Golf Club was formed in November 1891 as an 18-hole course on Mitcham Common and Lord Arthur Balfour was elected the first president.
In 1924, the owner, Sir Harry Mallaby-Deeley handed back the club to the local conservators. In doing so, he established Mitcham Golf Club and nominated four trustees to run the course and care for the golfers’ part of the common – a tradition which lives on today.
