Established in 1896, initially of nine holes known as ‘Binton Links’, the course was extended to 18 holes in 1904, with Open champion Jack White assisting in the layout.

White, James Braid, Harry Vardon and Vardon’s brother Tom, played an exhibition match to celebrate the official opening of the new course in 1905. Lottie Woad, the 2022 R&A Girls’ champion, is the most recent of several elite golfers to develop their skills at Farnham.
