The course was built in the early 1920s by the Cearn family and designed by Harry Colt.
In the late 1930s, it was formed as Coulsdon Court Golf Club and leased to Croydon Council with the proviso it would always be maintained as a public course. Today, it remains a facility to pay and play which, when combined with a low club membership fee, makes the club very accessible to new golfers.
