In the golf boom of the 1960s and 70s, Addington Court was one of the busiest golf clubs in the county, with golfers often queueing at dawn.

Managed then by Geoff Cotton, Chairman of the PGA 1968-69, it encouraged large numbers into the game. The complex includes the Old Championship course, 18-hole Falconwood, 9-hole Academy and a driving range. It was the base of golf course designer Fred Hawtree for many years.
